3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Tuesday 2/22/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside, as if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists as well. Ideally, we'll want players that will get a lot of ice time together on an even strength line and a power play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

It's one of the biggest days of the fantasy hockey season. FanDuel has two tournaments with $20,000 for first place. Let's look at some stacks that could help us take down a big payday.

St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues have been quietly very good on offense this season. They rank fifth in goals per game, better than the likes of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, and Pittsburgh Penguins. They could be a key stack tonight.

The Blues made some changes to their lineup on Saturday, and it resulted in a 6-3 win. That makes it likely that these lines will stick tonight, which saw Ryan O'Reilly ($5,300) play with Brandon Saad ($4,800) and David Perron ($5,300). O'Reilly and Saad each had a goal while Perron picked up two assists. This line was also fully correlated on the power play. The value you get on these players is very good for a first line that is also a power play unit.

The second line is also a stacking candidate tonight. Vladimir Tarasenko ($8,600) is expected back in the lineup, and we should see him slot back with Robert Thomas ($5,400) and Pavel Buchnevich ($7,300). This line has really been clicking. Thomas has seven points in his last four games, Buchnevich has multiple points in three consecutive games, and Tarasenko has five points in his last three games. They also fully correlate on the power play, so they are a fine stack in their own right.

The Blues are playing the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. The Flyers continue to struggle this season. They've won just two of their last 10 games and have allowed the seventh-most goals per game this season. Now, they'll have to play for the second day in a row against a good Blues offense.

St. Louis' implied team total is up at 3.79 goals. The first line offers value that is unmatched by a team with this high of a total. The second line also has firepower, so either stack is in play tonight.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered an embarrassing loss last night. They were down 5-0 after two periods to the league's worst team, the Montreal Canadiens. They'll need a bounce-back performance tonight and have an opponent that they can do it against.

Auston Matthews ($10,000) was one of the Leafs who has struggled the most in his last two games. He has just three shots on goal and no points in those games. There is little reason to worry, however, as he is still tied for second in the league with 33 goals, also ranking first in scoring chances per 60 minutes.

Mitchell Marner ($8,400) has cooled off since losing his goal streak, but he's still been getting chances. He has 46 shots on goal in his last 10 games. Michael Bunting ($5,700) ranks fifth on the team with 16 goals and fills in as the third member of the first line.

The second line with John Tavares ($7,500) and William Nylander ($7,500) is also in play tonight. Nylander had two goals on Saturday and is second on the team in goals and points. Alexander Kerfoot ($4,700) has been a nice contributor on this line and offers some salary relief.

Toronto lost last night to the team that allows the most goals per game but now will get their crack and the team that allows the second-most. They'll face the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road. It looks like Jean-Francois Berube will be back in goal for the Jackets. He got a win on Sunday, but that was his first NHL appearance since 2018, and he has been a below-average goaltender for his entire NHL career.

The Leafs' slump isn't expected to carry over tonight, as their implied team total is 4.18 goals. They should be able to return to form against Columbus, making them the most dangerous stack on the board tonight.

Minnesota Wild

While the Florida Panthers have a sky-high implied team total tonight, their new lines make them tricky to stack. So, we're going to look at the Minnesota Wild tonight. They are third in goals per game and have a good matchup tonight.

The Wild exploded for seven goals on Sunday night. The first line didn't do most of the damage in that game. Still, Mats Zuccarello ($7,700) had his fourth straight multiple-point game. Kirill Kaprizov ($8,800) and Ryan Hartman ($5,900) each picked up an assist, as well, so they weren't totally shut down. This line has been one of the most productive in the league, with Zuccarello and Kaprizov combining for 30 points in their last 10 games.

The line that did a lot of the scoring was the second line. Rookie Matthew Boldy ($6,000) has been a revelation for the team's depth scoring, as he has 16 points in 16 games. Kevin Fiala ($6,200) had two goals and an assist on Sunday, bringing him to 13 points in his last 10 games. Frederick Gaudreau ($4,800) chipped in with an assist and makes this line a good value trio.

Minnesota will face the Ottawa Senators tonight. Ottawa ranks dead last in terms of shot attempts and scoring chances allowed per 60 minutes. Matt Murray was getting on a roll in goal for the Sens, but they are going back to Anton Forsberg in net tonight.

The Wild have proven to be an explosive team. Per Michael Russo, they have scored seven goals more frequently than any team in the league. Their implied team total is the third-highest tonight, making them an excellent choice to stack.

Others to Consider: Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, New York Islanders
