Dion Phaneuf set to make Ottawa debut

Ottawa Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf will make his Ottawa debut Wednesday night against the Detroit Red Wings.

What It Means:

He will indeed be paired with Cody Ceci in addition to seeing time on the power play and penalty kill. "I want to come and do whatever I can to help this team," said Phaneuf. "I'm an Ottawa Senator now, and I'm proud to say that I'm excited to be an Ottawa Senator. I look forward to moving forward."

Phaneuf had 24 points (three goals, 21 assists) in 51 games for Toronto this season. His Corsi For Percentage of 51.6 is well above his totals from each of the past three seasons, and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is 1.4. We project him to record two goals and 10 helpers over the final 28 games. Our power rankings currently give Ottawa a 15.64 percent chance of making the playoffs.
