Only One Game Matters

The players and the managers will not say it, but only the match at Burnley matters on this small slate.

Huddersfield have to make up 16 points in eight games to avoid relegation, which is highly unlikely. Their opponent, West Ham, are sitting on 39 points after two wins and two losses in their last four matches. They are 18 points out of the top six.

The other match features Newcastle, a team once considered a relegation candidate, and Bournemouth. The teams are separated by three points in the table with both having won their last match. Bournemouth's current form is worse, but Newcastle are closer to the relegation zone. Both squads can look down the table and see the form, as well as upcoming matchups, and play it safe. Both would probably be happy with a draw.

Meanwhile, Burnley have lost three in a row and are only two points above the relegation zone. Despite Leicester's average possession eclipsing that of Burnley, the Clarets must get forward. Johann Gudmundsson ($7,500) must be involved in the offense like he was last week. However, that could leave Burnley exposed at the back, making Jamie Vardy ($12,000) and Youri Tielemans ($8,500) more appealing.
