Premier League Betting Guide for Matchweek 16

Manchester City face a difficult fixture away to Chelsea. Is this a rare week where the defending champions drop points?

This weekend's match will be the 3rd game in around 8 days for most sides, so it will be interesting to see what role fatigue and squad rotation play in these matches.

Using Soccer odd as the source for lines, let's take a look at some bets you should zero in on this week.

Chelsea vs Man City

Man City to Win -115

It is becoming impossible to doubt Manchester City in league play as they have backed up their record-breaking points total from last season with a 13W-2D-0L (+38 goal differential) start this season.

City hold a 2-1-0 record away against the top-five teams this season, with wins over Arsenal and Tottenham and a draw at Liverpool. Even the draw to Liverpool would have been a victory if not for a late penalty miss from Riyad Mahrez.

On the other side, Chelsea are talented, but the gap between them and City is substantial as the Blues trail by 10 points and are 20 goals behind Pep Guardiola’s side in goal difference. With Liverpool still hot on their tail, Man City won't be letting up anytime soon. It should be a great clash between two of the game's best managers, but it's hard to bet against City at the moment.

Cardiff vs Southampton

Cardiff to Win - Draw No Bet +100

Both teams have been poor this season, but Cardiff are two points and two spots ahead of Southampton in the league table. These teams are about even in WhoScored.com’s team ratings (Southampton 6.63 and Cardiff 6.60), so it seems safe to say there is little separation between the two sides.

Homefield advantage could be key for Cardiff given they’ve earned 10 of their total of 11 points in home matches this season. On the flip side, Southampton are 1-1-6 away from home and are 1-6-8 overall.

Cardiff should, at the very least, be able to earn a draw with Southampton, and they are certainly more than capable of taking the full three points.

Leicester vs Tottenham

Tottenham Moneyline +100

There is no doubt that Spurs are a superior side to Leicester this season as they are 11 points clear and 6 spots ahead in the table. However, due to playing away from home, Spurs are a 1-1 pick to win at Leicester on Saturday.

Playing away from home has not been a problem for Tottenham this campaign as they are 7-0-2 in those matches. Conversely, Leicester have been somewhat mediocre at home (3-2-2).

What is perhaps even more notable is that Leicester are 0-0-5 against teams in the top-eight in the table this year. With Spurs currently sitting in third, it seems like Leicester will have a difficult time this weekend, making a bet on a more talented Spurs side pretty enticing.
