League of Legends Daily Fantasy Helper: LCS, Saturday 3/21/20
With the sports world on pause right now, we turn to esports as a place for some fantasy action, and that leads us to the North American League Championship Series -- better known as the LCS.
They too were on a break but are back and set to continue with their regular season. Now, you might be asking, what is League of Legends? What is League of Legends DFS? If you need more info, look to numberFire's introduction piece to get a better understanding. That will give you an overview of the game itself, the position you need to pick in DFS, and some tips about stacking. At the end of the day, this is DFS, and you can learn while the other sports are on hold.
LCS Overview
The LCS has 10 teams, and we will see them all in action on Saturday, for a total of five matchups. We want to be targeting higher scoring players for the Star spot (1.5x points) and look to stack some teams in the other five positions. Star
Zven, Cloud9 ($10,700)
After a few disappointing seasons with Team SoloMid, Zven -- now on Cloud9 -- has returned to his world-class level of play and is clearly an elite option for the Star role this week. Zven comes into this week with the most kills in the LCS (64), the highest Kill/Death/Assist Ratio, KDA, (19.0), and the fifth-highest CS score per minute (9.4), according to OraclesElixir.com. He also has the eighth-most assists this season, further padding his stats regardless of his matchup. Cloud9 are taking on 100 Thieves for their first game this weekend, who come in with the third-most deaths as a team for the Spring Split. Cloud9 have locked up the number one seed for playoffs, but Zven will likely aim to strengthen his case for Spring Split MVP by posting another massive performance.
Top
V1per, FlyQuest ($8,300)
V1per and FlyQuest are tied for the second seed right now and face a tough four matches to close out the Spring Split. Admittedly, V1per isn't the best or most consistent top laners in the LCS, but he is slightly cheaper than the top tier and has a matchup worth attacking today. V1per will be laning against sOAZ -- on Immortals -- who holds the second-worst KDA among top laners, the second-worst gold differential among top laners, and the worst CS difference among top laners. V1per is holding the fourth-highest kill participation among top laners, giving him some good overall upside.
Jungle
Wiggily, Counter Logic Gaming ($8,300)
Wiggily and CLG are sitting in dead last and won't be making the playoffs this split, but that hasn't stopped him from having a great individual split. Right now, Wiggily has the highest Kill Participation (KP) among junglers, the second-highest CS differential at 10 minutes, and the lowest percent of deaths for his team, according to OraclesElixir.com. He gets involved early to pick up kills or assists and is putting up solid fantasy points.
Mid
Bjergsen, Team SoloMid ($9,700)
Bjergsen has been the star mid-laner for Team SoloMid since 2013 and has them tied for the second seed in the LCS right now. Bjergsen will always be among the most expensive options at mid lane, but you are paying up for a player with a massive ceiling. He comes in with 14 kills over his last two games and no deaths. Amazing production from the former MVP and that is shown with his 5.9 KDA -- second-highest among mid-laners -- along with having the second-highest gold differential for mid. TSM are facing Golden Guardians, who come in with the second-most deaths and the worst KDA among all teams for the Spring Split. We could be looking at another five kills or more for Bjergsen and you want to pay up for that.
ADC
Bang, Evil Geniuses ($10,000)
The ADC position is loaded with options and giving the pricing on some players -- Doublelift is only $8,900 -- there is a chance a player like Bang goes overlooked. At the top, I already mentioned how amazing Zven is doing this season, but for just a few hundred dollars cheaper we can pivot to Bang, who is also super consistent this season. Bang comes in with the second-highest KDA among ADCs, the second-most kills, the third-highest Kill Participation, and the highest damage per minute to enemies. Zven is having an amazing season, but Bang is right there behind him and even better than him in some areas.
Support
CoreJJ, Team Liquid ($6,900)
Finding some savings at support is always something you should always consider since they aren't going for kills and generally have a lower ceiling. CoreJJ and Team Liquid are in the midst of a very disappointing season, which is not something you'd expect from the team that's won four straight North American titles. Regardless, this just means we see Team Liquid players a bit cheaper overall, helping with roster construction. We want support players to pile up the assists, and CoreJJ is still doing that this season with the sixth-most assists among supports, the fourth-best KDA, and the second-fewest deaths. Adding fantasy points while not dying too much is great for a support, and we get CoreJJ at a great price.
Team
Evil Geniuses ($7,500)
When targeting a team in DFS, we want teams who grab objectives and don't mind if the game goes a bit longer. The longer the game time, the more objectives they can get, and thus, more fantasy points. Evil Geniuses have the fourth-longest average game time, the third-best First Blood rate, the second-best first Dragon rate, and the fourth-best Baron control rate. They are in the top half of the teams for pricing and should be in a close game against Team Liquid.
