League of Legends Daily Fantasy Helper: LCS, Saturday 3/28/20

With the sports world on pause right now, we turn to esports as a place for some fantasy action, and that leads us to the North American League Championship Series -- better known as the LCS.

They too were on a break but are back and set to continue with their regular season. Now, you might be asking, what is League of Legends? What is League of Legends DFS? If you need more info, look to numberFire's introduction piece to get a better understanding. That will give you an overview of the game itself, the position you need to pick in DFS, and some tips about stacking. At the end of the day, this is DFS, and you can learn while the other sports are on hold.

LCS Overview

The LCS has 10 teams, and we will see them all in action on Saturday, for a total of five matchups. We want to be targeting higher scoring players for the Star spot (1.5x points) and look to stack some teams in the other five positions. Star

Blaber, Cloud9 ($9,200)

Blaber and Cloud9 come into the final week of the regular season holding down the number one overall seed and cannot move from that spot. They are a staggering 15-1 so far this season with the team in second sitting at 9-7. They are, clearly, the best team, and it doesn't appear to be that close. Blaber is the jungler for Cloud9, and going with him in the Star spot could be seen as a bit risky, but he offers significant upside for tournaments and shouldn't be highly owned in the Star spot.

Surprisingly, Blaber has the third-most kills in the entire league, the second-most assists, and the sixth-highest Kill/Death/Assist Ratio, KDA. We saw a ceiling game from him last week with 30 FanDuel points from 10 assists and four kills, the type of performance he has shown all season, making him a solid choice for the Star spot.

Top

Ruin, Counter Logic Gaming ($8,600)

Ruin isn't the best top laner in the LCS, but he has a matchup we can attack this week. Counter Logic Gaming will be facing off against Golden Guardians, who have Hauntzer in the top lane. Hauntzer comes in with the second-most deaths among top laners this season, the worst KDA, and the worst gold differential at 10 minutes. Both teams are in the bottom three in the league standings, and if this turns into a messy game, we could see Ruin -- and his second-best Kill Participation, KP%, among top laners -- have a big impact on the game and his fantasy points.

Jungle

Xmithie, Jungle Immortals ($7,800)

Xmithie offers a decent bit of savings this week and is facing off against Dignitas, who comes in with the fourth-most deaths as a team this season. Immortals are barely holding onto a playoff spot right now -- they are the sixth and final playoff seed at 8-8 -- and need to pick up this win against a 6-10 Dignitas team. Xmithie is coming off a game where he dropped 23 FanDuel points from nine assists, one kill, and only two deaths. He is facing an undisciplined team and isn't expensive this week.

Mid

Bjergsen, Team SoloMid ($9,300)

Paying up for a mid laner is nothing new, and you should stick with the process and look towards Bjergsen on this slate. TSM are tied for the second seed right now, and the difference between second seed and the third seed in the LCS is massive -- putting this as a must-win type of game. Bjergsen and TSM have won three of their last four matches, and in those three matches, he has posted five kills or more in each game. That shouldn't come as a surprise -- players rack up more kills in wins compared to losses. The last time Bjergsen played 100T, he posted a massive line with six kills, eight assists, and only one death.

ADC

Apollo, Immortals ($9,400)

Apollo took over the starting ADC job in recent weeks, and has been playing very well, posting strong fantasy points. In the last five games, he has posted four kills or more in four of these five games with one death or fewer in every game. He has a smaller sample size of games, but comes in with the third-best KDA, the fifth-best creep score differential at 10 minutes, and the highest Kill Participation. Take those numbers with a slight grain of salt overall, but his consistency is what we want to be leaning on today. Apollo is up against Dignitas, who's ADC -- Johnsun -- has the fourth-worst KDA among ADCs.

Support

Smoothie, Counter Logic Gaming ($7,300)

Despite playing on the worst team in the LCS, Smoothie has the highest KP% among support players, the fifth-most assists, and the sixth-highest First Blood percentage. He is an above-average or better support player, who happens to be on the worst team in the league. For Saturday's slate, he is the fifth-most expensive option and facing the Golden Guardians, who have the two worst support players -- based on KDA -- in the LCS.

Team

100 Thieves ($7,100)

100 Thieves are the second-cheapest team option for Saturday's slate -- offering great salary relief. If you want to spend up for expensive mid laners and ADCs, you need the savings -- the main benefit of rostering 100 Thieves this week. Over their last 10 games, they have scored 11 fantasy points or more five times. The matchup is no doubt a tougher one against TSM, but savings and modest consistency are not easy to find together.
