CS:GO Daily Fantasy Helper: DreamHack Masters Spring, Saturday 5/23/20

With traditional sports on hold for now, esports has taken the front seat in DFS, and we now have Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to play on FanDuel. Affectionately known as CS:GO, two teams of five players compete on each map until one team reaches 16 rounds. Most series are played as a best-of-three and will feature teams from the DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 in North America and Europe.

If you are new to esports DFS or CS:GO DFS, take a look at the introduction piece with a rundown of format and scoring. All matches are best-of-three, and players will receive a bonus for completing a 2-0 sweep.

Another week and another CS:GO starting, which means we have a new set of matchups to breakdown. The DreamHack Masters Spring event is in action, with a European series and a North American series.

MAD Lions vs. Complexity Gaming

We have a coin-flip match on our hands with Complexity Gaming coming in with an implied win probability of 48.8%. With no clear favorite, we can look to both sides for fantasy options -- so let's jump in.

Complexity Gaming picked up the 2-0 sweep yesterday versus Mousesports and will look to build their Group B lead today. Complexity most recently competed at ESL One: Road to Rio, where they played a total of 19 maps. That is where we will look for some stats on their players.

k0nfig ($11,800) is by far the best player on Complexity and finished the ESL event with an average of 22.1 kills per map, a Headshot percentage (HS%) over 50%, and dropped 30 kills or more five times. He is the straw that stirs the drink on Complexity, and you want him in your lineups.

A big event didn't stop the 16-year-old oBo ($11,500) from averaging 20.1 kills per map, a strong HS% at 48.8%, while finishing with 19 kills or more on 10 of his 19 maps played.

blameF ($11,500) had fewer kills overall compared to poizon ($10,900), but blameF has a higher ceiling, finished with a positive kill-to-death differential, and had a higher HS%.

MAD Lions lost 2-1 yesterday but are still a strong team to considering rostering today since we are dealing with no clear favorite in this matchup.

I wrote about them yesterday and don't want to rehash the same stats from their most recent tournament. So let's take a look at who performed well yesterday to see if we can take anything away from that.

AcilioN ($9,500) is the cheapest of their players today and finished with the third-most kills yesterday and the third-most headshots. sjuush ($10,600) is the most expensive option from MAD Lions. He had the second-most kills yesterday, the second-most Headshots, and the third-most deaths.

roeJ ($10,300) could be the most interesting option on the roster, as he isn't the most expensive, had the most kills and headshots yesterday.

Team Liquid vs. MIBR

Despite being 0-2 in Group A, Team Liquid comes in as a heavy favorite and holds an implied win probability of 82%.

EliGE ($10,800) has seen his price decrease just a bit of the last week or so but can be used in the MVP spot, as he is averaging 20.7 kills per map over his last 49 maps played.

Over this same 49-map sample size, NAF ($11,000) is averaging 19.1 kills per map, while twistzz ($10,500) is averaging 18.9 kills per map -- nearly identical production. But, twistzz has a HS% which is exactly 20 percentage points higher than NAF's.

nitr0 ($9,500) is cheap but has only posted 20 kills or more five times in his last 49 maps, so there's almost no upside with him.

MIBR was also on yesterday's slate, so we know that trk ($11,300) has entered the lineup in place of meyern.

TACO ($9,500) may have a great name, but over his last 60 maps played, he has a 0.85 Kill-to-Death Ratio and is averaging only 14 kills per map.

Both fer ($10,500) and kNgV ($11,100) are averaging over 19 kills per map across their last 60 maps and have a HS% within 3 percentage points of each other. Both are averaging 0.79 kills per round, and both have a Kill-to-Death ratio at 1.10. They have the same production, but we can get fer at a few hundred dollars cheaper.
