Will Rogers Downs Horse Racing Picks for Tuesday 5/19/20
With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.
Starting at 2:15 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Will Rogers Downs. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.
As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.
Just What I Needed, Race 1
FD Racing Odds: 5/2
Although Race 1 favorite Just What I Needed doesn't crack the top three in numberFire's projections, Daily Horse Picks gives her the highest speed figure of the field and the highest odds of coming away victorious (36%). DHP also gives her a whopping 87% chance of finishing in the top three. The filly only has a pair of races under her belt, but she finished third earlier this month at Will Rogers Downs.
If a longshot is your thing, then Sebastianna (15/1) could be worth a wager. Her recent form hasn't been anything special, but she did notch third place in February. numberFire's model has her placing third here, and DHP gives her a respectable 31% chance of cracking the top three.
Lindante, Race 2
FD Racing Odds: 8/5
Lindante is heavily favored to win Race 2, and it looks to be well deserved. The gelding is numberFire's projected winner, and DHP gives him a robust 48% chance of doing so (95% odds of placing top three).
Of course, that should be expected considering Lindante's excellent 2020 resume. Following a sixth-place finish to begin the year, he's now rattled off top-three finishes in six of his last seven races with three wins.
Placing a bet on Lindante doesn't amount in a huge payout, but he's looking like one of the safer options today.
United Patriot, Race 9
FD Racing Odds: 5/2
United Patriot is the horse to beat in Race 9 and is the projected winner by both numberFire and DHP. He's also Timeform's pick to win. His win odds at DHP reach 43%, in addition to getting a 95% chance of placing top three.
It's worth noting that United Patriot has only raced once in 2020, finishing a disappointing fourth out of five, but he was a winner three times in 2019 and placed third twice.
If you're looking to spice things up, you can also consider adding Quality Rocket (4/1) to an exacta or quinella wager. The gelding pops on DHP with the next-best odds to win (26%) and finish top three (85%).
Hoboken and Spendaholic, Race 10
FD Racing Odds: 5/2 and 3/1
Hoboken and Spendaholic are neck and neck in terms of odds, and numberFire's model likes them to finish first and second in this order. DHP gives each over a 30% chance of winning, and both geldings are practically shoo-ins to finish top three, with Hoboken getting 87% odds and Spendaholic showing an even better 91%.
Hoboken has crushed it in his last five races dating back to November (1-2-3-2-2). Spendaholic has been more hit or miss but finished runner-up at this distance in April and nabbed a win last December.
Much like Race 9, you could consider pairing these two together in a wager.
