Remington Park Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 5/21/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST, we have 11 races at Remington Park. Here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Savvy Splash and Pt El Troquero, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 4/1 and 5/1

Savvy Splash (4/1) and Pt El Troquero (5/1) -- the second- and third-favorites, respectively, in the night's opener -- offer some value and look like good picks given the odds.

Going by the numbers at DailyHorsePicks.com, Pt El Troquero rates out very well, checking in third in speed rating and first in pace rating. He won a maiden claiming race at this track back on March 26th, according to Equibase, though he has just one other top-three finish in his career (a second-place outing). DHP gives the gelding an 11% chance to win and 38% chance of coming in the top three.

DHP's speed and pace ratings aren't enamored with Savvy Splash, but their win odds love him as DHP hands him a whopping 40% chance to win and 96% chance to be in the top three. No other horse owns win odds better than 23%, with the horse at 23% being filly Ad Jess Teller Girl (3/1), the favorite.

I like Savvy Splash and Pt El Troquero to get in the top three, and if you buy into DHP's win odds, Savvy Splash to win is a super enticing bet with him listed as second-favorite.

One Sweet Promise, Race 2

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

One Sweet Promise (2/1) is the favorite in the day's second race, and he may run away with it in this eight-horse field.

DHP gives him the best pace and speed ratings in the race -- by a good distance -- so it's no surprise they have One Sweet Promise winning 45% of the time, with 95% odds for a top-three outing. In 2019, he got in the top three in three of his four races, with two seconds and a third.

It's never fun betting on the favorite, but it looks like the smart money here.

Hero Time And Dough, Race 7

FD Racing Odds: 5/1

Let's get this out of the way -- A Separate Wagon (5/2) is a deserved favorite in Race 7, with DHP giving him a race-best 41% chance to win.

But Hero Time And Dough screams value at 5/1, which slots him in as just the fourth-favorite in what looks to be a pretty stout field. DHP has Hero Time And Dough with a 35% chance to win -- second-best in the field -- and 95% odds at getting in the top three.

Finishing in the top three is something Hero Time And Dough has done in each of his last three races (3-2-1), the last two of which have come at Remington. It's the best form of his career as he has just one other top-three showing (a third) across an 11-race career.

Lonemire (4/1) and Dance The Dust Off (9/2) are solid in their own right, each posting a win over their past three outings, but it's hard not to like Hero Time And Dough at these odds.
