Remington Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 5/22/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST, we have 11 races at Remington Park. Here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Kb Tennessee Senator, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 5/1

In the night's opener, Asteroyd (3/1) is the favorite for a reason, but don't sleep on Kb Tennessee Senator (5/1), who is just the fourth-favorite.

DailyHorsePicks.com has Asteroyd winning 25% of the time, which is exactly the implied odds at 3/1. But Kb Tennessee Senator checks out with the top speed rating in the field and sits second -- to Asteroyd -- in pace rating. So the gelding has the chops to compete with the favorite.

According to Equibase, Kb Tennessee Senator is coming off a win in his last outing, which came at Remington Park, and he also had a win and a second at Will Rogers Downs at the end of 2019. There's good value in him at 5/1 odds.

Sammy James, Race 5

FD Racing Odds: 9/2

Much like the pick we just talked about, Sammy James (9/2) is a horse that jumps out as a nice value. He's the third-favorite in Race 5 -- behind Mr. Rushmore (5/2) and Vf Eyebaman (7/2) -- but he checks a few boxes as a potential winner.

Most importantly, Sammy James is fast. DHP gives him the top pace rating in the field by a wide margin, and he also owns the race's best speed rating.

DHP has Mr. Rushmore as a deserving favorite, giving him race-best 20% odds to win, but Sammy James -- starting from the rail -- deserves a look as a strong candidate for a top-three finish at solid odds.

Kowboy Jim and Zoomn On Bye, Race 10

FD Racing Odds: 5/2 and 3/1

In the night's penultimate race, Kowboy Jim (5/2) and Zoomn on Bye (3/1) are in their own tier, making an exacta bet enticing.

Kowboy Jim has had a very successful career, with 20 top-three finishes -- including seven wins -- in 29 starts. The same can be said for Zoomn on Bye, who has nine career top-three outings -- with four victories -- in 12 races.

DHP's speed and pace ratings favor Zoomn On Bye, with both stats ranking the gelding first in the field, but DHP's win odds lean toward Kowboy Jim -- giving Kowboy Jim a 26% chance to win, compared to Zoomn On Bye's 20% odds. Ultimately, I agree with those win odds and like an exacta with Kowboy Jim the pick to win.
