Gulfstream Park Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 6/3/20

Gulfstream Park is hosting 10 races today. Which horses should you bet at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:00 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Gulfstream Park. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Cassidy's Smile, Race 4

FD Racing Odds: 15/1

Champagne Horizon (3/1) may be the favorite in Race 4, but there may be some betting value in taking a chance on longshot Cassidy's Smile instead.

numberFire's model picks Cassidy's Smile to finish runner-up behind the favorite, and Timeform also acknowledges the filly as a contender.

The optimism likely has to do with Cassidy's Smile coming off her best performance in recent memory, winning at this same distance (1 1/16 mile) at Gulfstream Park in early May while posting a career-best 87 Speed Figure, per Equibase. She'll have the same jockey again today in Cristian A. Torres, too, who's placed top three at a solid 40% clip since the start of April (7th-best).

On the other hand, Champagne's Horizon has been trending in the wrong direction, finishing second-to-last and last in her last two races. However, it's worth noting she was in top form prior to those finishes.

Patriot Drive, Race 7

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

Patriot Drive has the second-best odds to win behind Battle of Blenheim (5/2), and while this figures to be a tight race given Battle of Blenheim's recent form, numberFire's model gives the edge to Patriot Drive. Timeform likes Patriot Drive, as well.

Patriot Drive hasn't had the best results to begin 2020, finishing fourth in March and eighth in January, but he's coming off a stellar 2019 campaign. Last year, the gelding cracked the top three in seven of nine races, including three wins and three runner-ups. He also hit a career-best 108 Speed Figure in July.

Perhaps jockey Paco Lopez can help bring out the best in Patriot Drive. Lopez may not have as many reps as the other top jockeys at Gulfstream lately, but he's an elite jockey who's finishing top three at a 35% clip over the past two months (just outside the top 10), and he was one of the top earners in 2019.

Take Charge Dude, Race 9

FD Racing Odds: 7/5

Both numberFire and Timeform like Take Charge Dude to win, and he's been in good form lately. The gelding is coming off two second-place finishes, and he's failed to finish top three just twice in his last 11 races (five wins).

Take Charge Dude will also benefit from one of the track's most consistent jockeys over the past couple of months in Edgard J. Zayas. Since early April, Zayas is second in earnings and is finishing top three at a 42% rate (fifth-best).

Cryogenic (9/5) is expected to be a contender, as well, and boasts the aforementioned Paco Lopez as his rider. Outside of a disappointing fifth-place finish his last time out, he has a strong recent track record dating back to late December (5-3-2-1-3).
