Golden Gate Fields Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 6/4/20

Golden Gate Fields is hosting seven races this afternoon. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 3:45 p.m. EST, we have seven races at Golden Gate Fields. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Drumadoon, Race 3

FD Racing Odds: 12/1

We're getting things started with a longshot from Race 3, with Drumadoon coming away as numberFire's pick to take it. This is the colt's first race, and he's the son of Northern Causeway and Mia Luccia.

This should be a pretty open six-horse field, as five of the six are making their racing debuts. The Henrietta (15/1) has one race under her belt but finished in last place, so she's unlikely to be a major threat.

Drumadoon should benefit from jockey Francisco Duran, who's finishing top three at a 41% clip in Golden Gate Fields dating back to late December.

Scarlet Iris (4/1) should also be in the mix under the guidance of jockey Julien Couton. numberFire's model picks her to finish runner-up.

La Croix, Race 4

FD Racing Odds: 6/1

La Croix has middle-of-the-road odds on FanDuel Racing, but numberFire's model likes her to be victorious.

Although she has a mixed track record, she did place second this past November, which was easily her best performance across five appearances with a 74 Speed Figure, per Equibase. Most of her competitors are either inexperienced or have had mixed-to-poor results themselves, opening the door for a strong result.

She should get a boost from rider Frank T. Alvarado, who's cracking the top three 50% of the time since late December and is fifth in earnings over that span.

Favorite Darling Demon (8/5) is La Croix's biggest competition, as Darling Demon is coming off a third-place finish last month after a string of lackluster performances.

Cupid's Claws, Race 6

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

A quick glance at Cupid's Claws' 2020 finishes isn't super exciting necessarily (4-4-5-1), but he's cracked a 100 Speed Figure in each of his past two races.

numberFire's model favors him in Race 6, and he'll once again be paired with Ricardo Gonzalez, who's been his rider for all his 2020 appearances. Gonzalez boasts some impressive numbers this year, ranking second at the track in earnings while rocking a 22% win rate and 51% top-three rate.

In terms of numberFire's power rating and high speed rating, Cupid's Claws tops the field in both metrics.
