Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 6/4/20

Charles Town has eight races slated for tonight. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST this evening, we have eight races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

The Predictor, Race 1 (7:00 PM)

FD Betting Odds: 5/2

In the opening race at Charles Town, numberFire predicts The Predictor (get it?) to finish third -- but I like his odds of coming away victorious. The gelding has placed top-two in three of his four races in 2020, posting Speed Figures of 70-plus in each effort. His jockey, Jose Montano, has the second-highest win percentage among those with more than 100 races this year.

Our model likes Poshsky (8/1) to place first. The gelding hasn't placed higher than third in any of his four 2020 races, though he has hit Figures of 81 and 75 this year. His form in May looks to be on point. Betting favorite Incubator (6/5) has won 7 of his last 20 races, though his form isn't quite as hot coming in. Thomas Edward (5/1) has the jockey and form to win this. He's won two of his last four. Schlosser (6/1) is also bound to be in the mix.

Not a Trick, Race 4 (8:27 PM)

FD Betting Odds: 9/5

Not a Trick is both numberFire's pick and the betting favorite, so this is far from bold. However, at close to 2/1, this is still a good play. The gelding has placed top-two in 6 of his last 12 races here at Charles Town, and has posted Speed Figures of 67, 75, and 58 thus far in 2020. He'll be jockeyed by Arnaldo Bocachica, who has had far more success here than any of his peers.

Indus Valley Man (5/1) is coming off a win in March, and must be considered in these terms. Azkaree (2/1) has elite ability -- DailyHorsePicks.com ranks him first in speed and pace in this race. Kulani (8/1) has shown the capability of winning these races, but his recent form has been poor.

Caladan, Race 6 (9:23 PM)

FD Betting Odds: 6/1

Despite the 6/1 odds, our models like Caladan to win Race 6. The colt has won consecutive races, which also happens to be his only two efforts at Charles Town. He's coming off a victory where he posted an impressive Figure of 93. He'll be ridden by J.D. Acosta, who's had a considerable amount of success at this track.

Making his Charles Town debut is betting favorite Zitarrosa (7/2). The gelding has won three of his last five outings, while posting an average Speed Figure of 90 during those efforts. He'll be jockeyed by Bocachica, whose success here has already been noted. King Mauro (5/1) has placed top-two in five of his six efforts at this track. This race is certainly within striking distance for him. Hobe Sound (4/1) has won three of his last five and is in great form.

Raelyn's Star and She Gives Me Fits, Race 7 (9:50 PM)

FD Betting Odds: 7/2 and 3/1

Raelyn's Star has yet to race in 2020, yet our model likes her to place first in this one. The mare placed top-two in three of her last five races of 2019. In her last two workouts at this track in May, she ranked first among 19 and 45 horses, respectively. She Gives Me Fits has just one career race, a win here in January. The filly had some superb workouts here last month and will be jockeyed by Bocachica.

Call Me Jelly Roll (4/1) is capable of reaching speeds few in this race can, but the filly's recent form has been trending in the wrong direction. Betting favorite Hendaya (9/5) had poor form in her last race but has the ability to beat the rest of this field by a number of lengths.
