Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 7/2/20

Charles Town has a eight-race slate on Thursday night. Which horses should you wager on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST, we have eight races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's speed figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Paisley Singing, Race 3 (7:57 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Race 3 figures to be a close contest between similarly matched competitors, but numberFire likes Paisley Singing to emerge victorious.

The filly's speed figures typically hover around the 70s, which is probably what will be needed to take this contest, and she's notched a win and two runner-ups over her last five. Gerald Almodovar should help her out, too, as he's fifth in earnings at Charles Town this year.

All the other horses in this small field have their merits, so you could also consider siding with whichever one gives you the most bang for your buck come race time.

China Cat (7/2) has standout jockey Arnaldo Bocachica guiding her, who is tops in earnings by a wide margin and is winning at a stellar 30% clip.

Even longer shot Two In the Bush (8/1) has potential, coming off two straight wins in May and tallying an 80 speed figure in one of them.

Miss Wave, Race 6 (9:21 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Miss Wave was a runner-up in her racing debut earlier this month, and a repeat of her 62 speed figure should be enough to get the job done. Most of her competitors are coming off poor performances or are making their debuts. She's numberFire's top choice.

Irish Knockout (7/2) is one of the few who might be able to give Miss Wave trouble. Irish Knockout placed third earlier this month, but it came with a modest 48 speed figure. Still, she's hit 60 twice in four career outings. numberFire likes her as tonight's runner-up.

Evan's Chile (7/5) also deserves a look with the aforementioned Arnaldo Bocachica guiding her. Although she was below form in her second career race, she put up a promising 66 speed figure as a runner-up in May.

Cayenne Creek, Race 7 (9:49 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

Cayenne Creek, Out Of Cents (7/5) and Potential Grizzly (12/1) are the trio to look at in Race 7, and numberFire's model predicts them to finish top-three in that order.

Cayenne Creek is as consistent as they come, registering speed figures of 80 or better in 11 of the last 12 appearances.

Meanwhile, Out of Cents hasn't been putting up those kinds of marks for as long, but he's cracked the podium in three straight with speed figures of 87, 87, and 80.

Lastly, Potential Grizzly is coming off a disappointing sixth-place result in May but put up a career-high 89 figure a few races back in February. If his odds stay in this range, he could be a potential value.
