Delaware Park Horse Racing Picks for Monday 7/6/20

Delaware Park has eight races slated for today. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:15 p.m. EST today, we have eight races at Delaware Park. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

You Are Awesome, Race 3 (2:15 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

In a Maiden Claiming event where a number of horses are making their debuts, we don't have much to go on here. You Are Awesome had two outings of the same length last month at Laurel Park, posting a time of 1:02.00. That's more than a second better than current betting favorite Muchacho Macho's (2/1) mid-June 1:03.20 effort. You Are Awesome will be ridden by Xavier Perez, who has won 17.4% of his 588 races over the last two years.

Muchacho Macho will be coupled with Hazels Little Man -- the two are bound to be well in the mix. Not to be discounted is English Lad (10/1), who has shown excellent form -- though the gelding's jockey, Martin Solis, isn't known for his success. With Alex Cintron in the saddle, Theduke Of Hazzard (6/1) is one to seriously consider.

Marengo Road, Race 6 (3:45 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 8/1

Marengo Road's form was declining when we last saw him race, but that was more than a year ago. Prior to that, the gelding had reached figures of 90-plus in nine consecutive outings. This is a horse that has posted figures in the triple-digits 10 times since 2017. Impressive. He'll be jockeyed by Daniel Centeno, who has won a track-high 26% of his races in 2020 after winning 24% in 2019.

Speaking of jockeys, Trevor McCarthy's track record here is tough to beat. He has been victorious in a whopping 26.4% of his outings here since 2019. He'll ride betting favorite Confessor (2/1) today. The gelding has achieved six straight figures of 90 or better and has superb form coming in. Totalitario (3/1) is our model's top pick. Edwin Gonzalez will be his rider. Gonzalez has won 29.6% of his 1,005 races since last year and has placed top-three in an astonishing 64.8% of them. The gelding has had three straight figures under 90, though one of those was a first-place finish at Charles Town. The Stifler (4/1) has won consecutive efforts coming in, including a 99-speed victory at Tampa Bay Downs two months ago. The five-year-old's form is impossible to doubt.

Someday Jones, Race 8 (4:45 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

Picking the betting favorite isn't much fun, but there's so much to like here. Prior to his most recent race before the hiatus, the seven-year-old had averaged a figure of 114.4 in his five previous outings -- all Stakes events. Angel Suarez has been one of the most successful jockeys here over the last couple of years and will look to guide Someday Jones to his third victory in nine races.

Someday Jones isn't the only horse in this race capable of reaching triple-digits -- Grumps Little Tots (3/1), our model's top pick, has done so in three of his last five efforts. The gelding has placed first or second in each of his four Allowance competitions. Jockey Alex Cintron won 21% of his races here last year and should have Grumps Little Tots in the mix. Clubman (6/1) should be thereabouts with the aforementioned Xavier Perez in the saddle. Compound It (4/1) is also one to consider.
