Saratoga Horse Racing Picks for Sunday 8/2/20
With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.
Starting at 1:10 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Saratoga. Using our numberFire projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)
Lady Lilly and Mo Dean, Race 6
FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2 and 4/1
Race 6 is a Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-old fillies sprinting 6 furlongs. There's a new rule with regard to two-year-olds this year: no Lasix allowed.
The top pick at numberFire is Right to Freedom (8/1), who was working so well prior to her sixth-place finish at Keeneland on debut three weeks ago. Lady Lilly (7/2) has top jockey and stretch rider Joel Rosario in the irons in her debut for trainer Steve Asmussen. She has multiple quick morning works in place. and her sire is Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.
While jockey Dylan Davis needs to improve on his two wins in 55 starts at the Saratoga meet, he's a patient rider for a young juvenile, and Miss Morgantown (15/1) can surprise here, showing hints of speed in her work tab.
Needacarcalllouie (15/1) debuts for EPO trainer Diodoro, as does Mo Dean (4/1) for fellow booster Chad Brown with some solid works in place. Mo Dean was a $575K purchase. Can’t rule out My Alluring Lady (5/1), who is working super well for trainer Danny Gargan with a pair of recent bullet works in place.
American Tattoo and You're to Blame, Race 9
FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/1 and 12/1
Race 9 is the Sunday feature, a marathon at 1 3/4 miles for the minor $100K Birdstone Stakes. EPO trainer Todd Pletcher has a pair running with favorite Moretti (8/5) the top pick of numberFire. But let’s try Pletcher's other runner at a price, You’re to Blame (12/1), who is a graded stakes place six-year-old stringing races together and showing good health. That’s a good sign when going this extra distance, and he’s hit triple-digit speed figures many times in the past and can show better on this faster surface. Expect a closer ride sitting off the leaders with Javier Castellano aboard.
Standard Deviation (4/1) and Highland Sky (4/1) have been scratched, leaving a shorter field, and American Tattoo (8/1) can take advantage for his new trainer, Jack Sisterson, off a big day yesterday. Off since March but well meant and graded stakes placed.
