Belmont Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 6/5/21

Starting at 11:30 p.m. EST, we have 13 races at Belmont Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Regal Glory and Tamahere, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/1 and 6/1

Race 8 is the $500K Grade I Just a Game for older fillies and mares, racing 1 mile on the turf. Ten runners will race after Sweet Bye and Bye and favorite Blowout were scratched. Leading trainer Chad Brown has three of them in and is looking for his fifth straight winner of the race. All three of his horses are top contenders – Pocket Square (5/1), Tamahere (6/1) and Regal Glory (8/1).

The numberFire data shows Pocket Square and Tamahere as the two top win contenders.

Horse Racing Radar (HRR) notes that Tamahere has improved from race to race since coming to the US from France. Leading jockey Jose Ortiz rides Regal Glory, and HRR adds that Regal Glory has finished first twice and second five times with Ortiz riding.

Domestic Spending and Gufo, Race 10

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 5/1

Race 10 is the $750K Manhattan Stakes for older horses racing 1 1/4 miles on the inner turf. Trainer Chad Brown has four more runners in this race, including favorite Domestic Spending (3/1) with top West coast rider Flavien Prat aboard.

Domestic Spending is getting better each race and has won his last two starts in Grade 1 races, including last month off a long layoff. numberFire likes his chances to win with Colonel Liam (5/2) a board hitter and runner-up followed by Gufo (5/1).

Colonel Liam is a major contender for top Belmont trainer Todd Pletcher, and he’s won four in a row. Brown also saddles Master Pierce (5/1), Rockemperor (8/1) and Tribhuvan (8/1). All are European runners with a good chance to hit the board and cash in.

HRR notes that Gufo has five wins and a pair of second- and third-place finishes in nine starts. Guaranteed Tip Sheet suggests including Gufo to win and in exacta and trifecta wagering with strong stretch rider Joel Rosario likely giving him a good trip.

Known Agenda and Rock Your World, Race 11

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/1 and 9/2

Race 11 is the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes for three-year-olds going 1 1/2 miles. Five leading contenders will decide this final leg of the Triple Crown series, and numberFire’s algorithm picks Essential Quality (2/1) to be best in front of Rock Your World (9/2) and Preakness winner Rombauer (3/1).

Guaranteed Tip Sheet gives Rock Your World the slight edge to get on the lead and hold up down the long Belmont stretch to win.

Essential Quality has won 5-of-6 races and finished a close fourth in the Kentucky Derby. He’s working super well with rest, and Horse Racing Nation’s Super Screener rates him best and a must include in your Belmont Stakes wagering strategy. They also suggest adding Known Agenda (6/1) to your win wagers as a top value play and board hitter. Known Agenda is the well-bred son of Curlin with stamina and strength to be a top challenger in the 1 1/2-mile "Test of the Champion."
