Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Monday 6/7/21

The Angels are the top stack on tonight's small, three-game slate. Which other team team should we look to target?

Stacks are the backbone of cashing daily fantasy baseball lineups. Correlation drives upside, creating the potential to place high or even win GPPs when your selected stacks explode offensively.

This column will do the digging and the dirty work to determine which stacks are worth rostering each day. Scoring upside will fuel the stacks that get the nod. Sometimes that will lead to chalky selections, but contrarian stacks will get their fair share of love too.

In addition to utilizing the touted daily stacks in handbuilt lineups, numberFire premium members can throw these highlighted stacks into an optimized lineup using our DFS Sharpstack tool. Our hitting heat map tool is also available to premium members looking for more stacking options. It provides valuable info such as implied total, park factors, and stats for identifying the quality of the opposing pitcher.

Let's take a look at the top stacks on today's main slate, which begins at 5:10 PM ET.

Los Angeles Angels

Rookie Jackson Kowar is making his big-league debut for the Kansas City Royals tonight. The righty has been sensational throughout his minor-league career, and he's totally flummoxed Triple-A hitters this year, spinning a 0.85 ERA in six starts totaling 31 and 2/3 innings, per FanGraphs. It's possible he'll hit the ground running. However, Logan Gilbert provides a recent example of a top prospect who failed to make a seamless transition to the majors.

On a three-game slate, taking a chance on the top hitters from the Los Angeles Angels is a viable move. I'm specifically looking at their projected top-four hitters, Justin Upton ($3,200), Shohei Ohtani ($4,100), Anthony Rendon ($3,400), and Jared Walsh ($3,700). Upton's dialed into a high-upside, volatile stretch of play, recording a .308 on-base percentage, 35.2 percent strikeout rate, .304 isolated power (ISO), and 127 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) over the last 30 days.

Rendon's hit at a below-average rate against righties this year, sporting a 95 wRC+. Using him is banking on correlation play and valuing his track record of success in same-handed matchups. He's rattled off a .387 on-base percentage, .221 ISO, and 142 wRC+ against righties since 2018.

My two favorite options in this stack are Ohtani and Walsh. This year, Ohtani's rocked righties for a .349 on-base percentage, .338 ISO, and 166 wRC+. And Walsh has been even better, pummeling them for a .417 on-base percentage, .291 ISO, and 190 wRC+.

Miami Marlins

Nick Pivetta has been great for the Boston Red Sox this year. Having said that, there are a few chinks in the armor that could result in a bad start tonight. He's walked 11.3 percent of the batters he's faced this year. He also has a low ground-ball approach, recording a 35.8 percent ground-ball rate this year. Slightly messy control and a few too many well-struck fly-balls could snowball into a nifty offensive output from the Miami Marlins at hitter-friendly Fenway Park if things break right.

According to FantasyPros' park factors, Fenway Park has the third-highest park factor for runs (1.103) and highest mark for doubles (1.404). My favorite option in a Marlins stack is left-handed-hitting middle infielder Jazz Chisholm ($3,100). The toolsy youngster is enjoying a breakout campaign, ripping righties for a .330 on-base percentage, .236 ISO, and 129 wRC+. He's also stolen 9 bases in 11 attempts.

Others I like in this stack include Starling Marte ($3,600), Jesus Aguilar ($2,800), and -- if he returns from an absence because of a stiff back -- Garrett Cooper ($2,100). Marte's been on fire since returning from the injured list, raking to the tune of a .370 on-base percentage, .304 ISO, and 151 wRC+ in an admittedly small sample of 27 plate appearances. Cooper's been hot over the last 30 days, too, recording a .402 on-base percentage, .192 ISO, and 161 wRC+.

Aguilar's been considerably cooler in the last 30 days with a 94 wRC+. However, his .206 ISO plays in daily games. He's also been outstanding in same-handed matchups this year, totaling a .219 ISO and 126 wRC+ in 159 plate appearances against righties.
