3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Wednesday 9/15/21

Luis Robert has been white hot lately, and he's got an outstanding matchup tonight. What other studs are worth spending salary on for Wednesday's main slate?

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce well, too, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Julio Urias, P, Los Angeles Dodgers ($10,300)

While Clayton Kershaw hasn't been able to produce his usual stable of innings due to injury, Julio Urias and teammate Walker Buehler have stepped up big time in his absence.

Urias takes the mound today with an NL-best win total (17), and he's by far the best DFS option on the slate. That is partially due to his own excellence but also partially due to the fact that there aren't a lot of great options on the main slate. Urias faces the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have been one of the league's worst offenses. They have just a .299 wOBA and 23.6% strikeout rate over the last 30 days, and they have just a .147 team ISO since August 1st against lefties.

Urias sports a 3.27 FIP this season, and that's largely based on the strength of a 26.7% strikeout rate. The lefty has also done a great job with limiting free passes, dishing them only 5.4% of the time. Urias's current form and his below average opponent makes for an excellent ceiling for the Dodgers' ace on Wednesday.

Alex Bregman, 3B, Houston Astros ($4,200)

The Houston Astros have been surging at the plate recently. Over the last 30 days, they have. a team .343 wOBA and an 18.0% strikeout rate. That does not bode well for Kohei Arihara, who takes the hill tonight.

One of the ugliest splits that Arihara boasts this season is against same-sided right-handed bats. He's been absolutely torched by them this season, allowing a .671 slugging percentage and 3.26 HR/9 on the year to righties. Unfortunately for him, the Astros have plenty of those.

Tops amongst them may be Alex Bregman. Bregman owns a 131 wRC+ on the year, and he's been even better in the second half of the year, recording a 180 wRC+. Bregman also has an identical .162 ISO figure against both lefties and righties, so he is well-equipped to take advantage of Arihara's reverse splits.

Luis Robert, OF, Chicago White Sox ($3,900)

The Chicago White Sox seem to be rounding into prime form as the playoffs are just around the corner, and facing a rookie hurler like Janson Junk could prolong their offensive assault on opposing pitching.

Junk performed as his name would indicate at Double-A this season, where he allowed 1.65 HR/9 in 27 1/3 innings pitched. He now vaults from Double-A to facing one of the top lineups in all of baseball, and that is led by Luis Robert. Robert has a .382 wOBA versus righties this season, and he could be on base early and often against Junk.

The White Sox top tonight's implied team totals at 5.82, so FanDuel Sportsbook believes the White Sox make for a strong option tonight. If they are, their leadoff hitter is likely to be a massive part of that.
