3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Wednesday 10/5/22

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce, as well, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today on the final day of the regular season. Thanks for reading along with me for 162 games.

Corbin Burnes, SP, Milwaukee Brewers ($11,000)

Eliminated from playoff contention, the Milwaukee Brewers will be licking their wounds, and hopefully, they let Corbin Burnes give us a full plate of nasty today. Because if he goes his normal workload, he could dazzle.

Burnes has been downright magnificent yet again in 2022. Spanning 32 starts and 199 innings, the right-hander has posted a 3.19 FIP and 30.2% strikeout rate. He's given out free passes at only a 6.5% clip. He's been one of the game's best.

And recently, the Arizona Diamondbacks, his unworthy opponent, have stunk at the plate. Over the last 30 days, the Snakes have recorded a .281 wOBA (second-worst) with a 24.7% strikeout rate.

I will be all over Burnes today, and our projections agree. We have him going for 42.5 FanDuel points -- tops on the slate by 2.1 points.

Eugenio Suarez, 3B, Seattle Mariners ($3,500)

Southpaw Tyler Alexander of the Detroit Tigers may have dominated in his last start out, but he's struggled mostly all season. Let's peep the numbers.

In 95 1/3 innings pitched, Alexander has recorded only a 13.9% strikeout rate, and he's allowed 1.42 HR/9. It's all led to a pretty ugly 5.27 xERA. Righties have given Alexander fits as he's allowed a .462 slugging percentage in the split.

And that's where we bring Eugenio Suarez into the picture. Suarez has quietly had a very nice season for the Seattle Mariners. In 629 plate appearances, he's logged a .223 ISO, smacked 31 dingers, and been solid with a 131 wRC+.

Suarez could have a field day in the regular-season finale.

Trea Turner, SS, Los Angeles Dodgers ($3,900)

While it's always hard to predict which regulars will make it into the lineup for the last game of the year, if Trea Turner plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers, he has huge upside.

In what could be his final season as a Dodger, Turner has enjoyed another productive campaign at the dish, racking up 20 home runs, 27 steals, and a 127 wRC+. He's been brilliant.

You know who hasn't been? Austin Gomber, who has been shuttled back and forth between the bullpen and a starting gig. The veteran lefty has posted a 4.51 FIP this season, and he's struck out only 17.6% of batters.

I wouldn't imagine Gomber lasts long tonight, and Turner is likely to be a big part of that.
