Carlos Santana dealt to Seattle from Philadelphia on Monday
The Philadelphia Phillies have traded first baseman Carlos Santana along with infielder J.P. Crawford to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for infielder Jean Segura and relievers James Pazos and Juan Nicasio.
Santana was included in the deal as the Phillies plan on moving Rhys Hoskins back to first base, making the veteran Santana expendable. It is unclear if he is in the Mariners' plans for 2019 as they are undergoing a dramatic roster overhaul. If he stays in Seattle, expect Santana to see the bulk of his time at designated hitter.
Santana slashed .229/.352/.414 with 24 homers and 86 RBI in 679 plate appearances last season.
