Edwin Diaz unavailable for Mets Tuesday night
New York Mets reliever Edwin Diaz will be unavailable on Tuesday versus the Cincinnati Reds.
The Mets want to give Diaz a breather after three straight days of work. He gave up a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning of Monday's loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Mets manager Mickey Callaway said the 25-year-old right-hander could be available if the game goes long, but Jeurys Familia will be the go-to guy in the ninth on Tuesday.
Diaz owns a 1.54 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 20 strikeouts over 11 2/3 innings this season. He has 8 saves in 13 appearances.
