Allen Webster

Allen Webster released by Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates released pitcher Allen Webster, who will sign with a team in the Korean Baseball Organization, per Sung Min Kim of River Avenue Blues.

What It Means:

He's had some ugly numbers in the bigs, but he'll turn just 26 in February. It's a little surprising he's decided to head overseas at this point. The right-hander was ranked as a top-50 prospect a couple years ago by Baseball America.

Webster holds a 6.13 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 5.68 strikeouts-per-nine rate and 4.94 walks-per-nine ratio over 120 1/3 innings at the major league level.
