Ryan Weber to toe rubber for Red Sox Thursday afternoon
Boston Red Sox pitcher Ryan Weber will start Thursday afternoon's series finale versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
It'll be Weber's first major league start since 2017 and ninth of his career, so this could be an opener situation. He's made five starts for Triple-A Pawtucket this season before being called up to a relief role earlier this month. The 28-year-old right-hander is drawing the start in place of Hector Velazquez.
Weber owns a 1.13 ERA with 7 strikeouts in eight innings (three games) for Boston.
