Blue Jays put Justin Smoak (quad) on 10-day IL
The Toronto Blue Jays placed first baseman Justin Smoak on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 15, due to a quad injury.
Smoak missed the past three games with the injury. It's not clear how long he's expected to be out. The Blue Jays have called up right-hander Justin Shafer from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding roster move.
Smoak owns a .225/.364/.423 batting line with 12 home runs, 34 RBI, and 29 runs scored in 62 games for the Blue Jays this season.
