Sean Manaea (shoulder) approaching rehab assignment
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sean Manaea (shoulder) is on track to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.
Manaea will throw a simulated game Thursday at the Athletics' spring training complex in Arizona. If all goes well, he should be cleared for the rehab assignment. The 27-year-old left-hander has been sidelined all season after undergoing major shoulder surgery last September.
Manaea went 12-9 in 27 starts this season, recording a 3.59 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 108 strikeouts and 32 walks across 160 2/3 innings.
