Reds' Alex Wood (back) cleared for rehab

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Alex Wood (back) is on track to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

What It Means:

Wood has been out all season with a back problem. He will throw a bullpen session Tuesday at Louisville and then make a start Thursday. The veteran left-hander could join the Reds' rotation in a week or so if everything goes well.

numberFire's models currently expect Wood to record a 4.67 ERA and 1.67 WHIP with 59 strikeouts and 25 walks this season.
