Daniel Ponce de Leon starting for St. Louis on Friday
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Daniel Ponce de Leon is taking the bump on Friday in the team's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Adam Wainwright was originally slated to start, but he was scratched due to back spasms. With someone needing to get the start, the Cardinals are calling upon Ponce de Leon to lead the team out of the All-Star Break.
In 25.0 innings pitched in relief this season, Ponce de Leon has a 1-0 record with a 2.16 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, 31 strikeouts and 11 walks.
