Cubs option Carl Edwards to Triple-A Iowa
The Chicago Cubs optioned reliever Carl Edwards to Triple-A Iowa.
Edwards recorded only one out Sunday while allowing a run on a hit and a walk in his first MLB appearance since June 9 due to a thoracic strain in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. The Cubs recalled fellow righty reliever Rowan Wick from Iowa in a corresponding roster move.
Edwards owns a 5.87 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and 9 walks over 15 1/3 innings (20 games) this season.
