Cubs acquire Derek Holland for a cash consideration
The Chicago Cubs have acquired pitcher Derek Holland and cash from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for a cash consideration.
What It Means:
Holland was designated for assignment by the Giants earlier this week but will head to Chicago after being dealt for a cash consideration.
Look for Holland to pitch out of the Cubs' bullpen as a lefty specialist. In 68.2 innings pitched this season, the veteran has produced a 5.90 ERA and 71 strikeouts.
