Howie Kendrick advances Nationals to NLCS with 10th-inning grand slam

Washington Nationals infielder Howie Kendrick hit a game-winning grand slam in the 10th inning of a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the National League Division Series on Wednesday night.

What It Means:

Kendrick was 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on the day and just 4-for-19 in the series when he walked up to the plate with the bases loaded in the 10th inning. After fouling off the first pitch, the 36-year-old veteran hammered the next one over the outfield wall to give the Nationals their first postseason series victory since the team moved to Washington ahead of the 2005 season. This is the second time in 51 seasons that the franchise has reached the NLCS. Game 1 will be played on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Kendrick scored 29.2 FanDuel points in the victory.
