Clayton Kershaw gives up back-to-back homers in relief as Dodgers are eliminated
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed 2 runs over 1/3 of an inning in a 7-3 extra-inning loss to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday in Game 5 of the National League Division Series.
Kershaw entered with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and promptly put down Anthony Rendon on three pitches. The eighth inning was a different story, however, as Kershaw gave up back-to-back homers before being pulled. There will likely be plenty of renewed narrative this offseason about the veteran left-hander's postseason struggles. He will turn 32 in March.
Kershaw gave up 5 runs on 8 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk over 6 1/3 innings in two playoff appearances.
