Scott Kingery (undisclosed), others quietly placed on Phillies IL
The Philadelphia Phillies placed infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery (undisclosed) on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 30.
The Phillies placed Kingery, closer Hector Neris, reliever Tommy Hunter, and potential starting pitcher Ranger Suarez on the IL last night without any explanation or announcement. If they happened to test positive for COVID-19, Kingery and company all have enough time to recover and return to the active roster before Opening Day. Kingery is expected to be an everyday infielder for the Phillies this season. He hit .258/.315/.474 with 19 homers, 55 RBI, 64 runs scored, and 15 steals in 499 plate appearances last season.
numberFire's models expect Kingery to bat .244 with 7 homers, 21 RBI, 22 runs scored, and 6 steals this season. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Phillies are tied for having the 10th-best odds (+2500) to win the 2020 World Series.
