Corey Knebel

Brewers: Corey Knebel (elbow) on track for Opening Day

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Corey Knebel (elbow) is expected to make the Opening Day roster, per Brewers manager Craig Counsell.

What It Means:

Brewers pitching coach Chris Hook wouldn't commit to Knebel being ready for the opener last weekend but Counsell is more confident. Knebel missed all of 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the beginning of the season. The 28-year-old right-hander could see some save chances but he's primarily expected to serve as a bridge to Josh Hader.

Knebel owns a 3.15 ERA over 223 career innings (224 games) and his strikeout percentage was at least 39.5 percent in 2017 and 2018. numberFire's models expect Knebel to record a 4.57 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 32 strikeouts and 7 walks over 19 2/3 innings this season.
