Yankees' Zack Britton 'a natural guy' with Aroldis Chapman sidelined
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Zack Britton would be the likely closer on opening day with Aroldis Chapman (COVID-19) sidelined.
With Chapman reportedly suffering from mild symptoms of the virus, it could be several weeks before he is able to produce two negative tests and recover. Britton has been with the team for two seasons and has recorded six saves in that time.
Britton has a solid 3.03 career ERA, and has improved that to a nice 2.19 rate with the Yankees since joining them in 2018. The veteran is a logical choice to fill in for Chapman until Chapman can recover from the virus.
