X-ray reveals Orioles' Richie Martin suffered broken wrist
Baltimore Orioles shortstop Richie Martin suffered a broken bone in his wrist during Friday's intrasquad game.
It was believed that Martin had only suffered an injury to his fingernail, but an X-ray revealed that he had fractured his wrist in the slide as well. It's unclear now how long he will be sidelined by the injury, but he will certainly not be back as early as we previously expected.
This obviously throws a wrench in Martin's projections, as we don't know how much time he will miss. It was noted that he participated in a game of catch before discovering the broken bone, but he'll likely be shut down for at least a few weeks while the bone heals.
