Athletics: Jesus Luzardo (COVID-19) anxious to return
Oakland Athletics pitcher Jesus Luzardo (COVID-19) is "itching to get back and is feeling good," according to Athletics manager Bob Melvin.
Luzardo has been held out of summer camp after testing positive for COVID-19 at the beginning of the month. The 22-year-old left-hander is expected to be apart of the Athletics' rotation this season, but he may not be ready by Opening Day. Luzardo recorded 16 strikeouts over 12 innings (six appearances) to close out the end of 2019 in his first taste of the majors. He was fantastic during spring training with a 1.08 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings (three starts).
numberFire's models project Luzardo for a 4.02 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 54 strikeouts and 18 walks over 53 2/3 innings this season.
