Chris Herrmann can opt-out from Rays before season
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Chris Herrmann has an opt-out in his minor league deal five days before the start of the season.
Herrmann signed a minor league deal with the Rays back in January and he says he wants to stay with the club. The 32-year-old can contribute at catcher and in the outfield. He hit just .202 with a .554 OPS over 94 plate appearances (30 games) for the Oakland Athletics last season.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Rays have the sixth-best odds (+1700) to win the 2020 World Series.
