Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka (concussion) continuing progression

New York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka said he hasn't had any concussion symptoms since leaving the hospital.

What It Means:

Tanaka suffered a concussion a little over a week ago when he was hit in the head by a line drive. His progression is encouraging but it remains unknown whether Tanaka will be available for his first turn in the Yankees' rotation. The 31-year-old right-hander tossed a 4.45 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 149 strikeouts and 40 walks over 182 innings last season.

numberFire's models project the 31-year-old to pitch a 4.38 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 63 2/3 innings this season, with 59 strikeouts, 15 walks, and 12 home runs allowed.
