Trevor Cahill (fingernail) unlikely for Giants' Opening Day
San Francisco Giants reliever Trevor Cahill (fingernail) is not expected to be ready for Opening Day on July 23 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Cahill remains sidelined with a fingernail issue. He's expected to operate in a long relief role for the Giants this season when active. The 32-year-old right-hander's ERA rose from 3.76 in 2018 to 5.98 last season over 37 appearances (11 starts).
numberFire's models expect Cahill to record a 5.22 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and 8 walks in 22 1/3 innings this season.
