Rockies' David Dahl dealing with sore core

Colorado Rockies outfielder David Dahl has not played in the Rockies' last two intrasquad games due to "core soreness," per manager Bud Black.

What It Means:

"David's had a little core soreness over the last few days, [so] we've decided to take it a little easy with David in these last intrasquad [games]," Black said. "But he's been playing defense. He swung yesterday in the cage. Today [he] is going to take batting practice on the field. He's going to run the bases. It's going to do more defensive work today." Black believes Dahl could be back for Friday's intrasquad scrimmage. Dahl is expected to replace Charlie Blackmon as the Rockies' leadoff man this season, with Blackmon moving to the No. 3 spot. The 26-year-old hit .302/.353/.524 with 15 home runs, 28 doubles, 61 RBI, 67 runs scored, and 4 steals over 413 plate appearances this season.

numberFire's models expect Dahl to post a .283 batting average and .818 OPS with 8 homers, 28 RBI, 28 runs scored, and 3 steals over 189 plate appearances this season.
