A.J. Puk placed on Athletics IL with shoulder strain
The Oakland Athletics placed left-handed pitcher A.J. Puk on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain.
Puk will be replaced by Daniel Mengden as the No. 5 pitcher in the Athletics' rotation. He initially strained his shoulder back in March. The 25-year-old left-hander missed all of 2018 and threw just 36 2/3 innings out of the bullpen in 2019 following Tommy John surgery.
Prior to this announcement, numberFire's models expected Puk to record a 4.04 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 56 strikeouts and 24 walks over 51 1/3 innings this season.
