Rays' Colin Poche (left elbow) recommended for Tommy John surgery
Tampa Bay Rays' pitcher Colin Poche has been diagnosed with a torn UCL in his left elbow and has been recommended for Tommy John surgery. The team has placed him on the 45-day injured list.
Poche was projected by our models to see 20 innings of work for the Rays this season out of their bullpen. The 26-year-old threw 51 2/3 innings for the Rays last season, resulting in a 5 win-5 loss record, 4.70 ERA, 1.006 WHIP, 72 strikeouts, and 19 walks. Kevan Smith will fill Poche's spot on the Rays' roster after having his contract purchased by the team on Tuesday.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Rays have the sixth-best odds (+1700) to win the 2020 World Series.
