Melky Cabrera released by Mets
The New York Mets released outfielder Melky Cabrera.
Cabrera signed a minor league deal with the Mets late last month. The club signed Juan Lagares in a corresponding roster move. Last year, Cabrera slashed .280/.313/.399 with 7 home runs and 47 RBI across 397 plate appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He turns 36 in August.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Mets have the eighth-best odds (+1900) to win the 2020 World Series.
