Carlos Martinez (COVID-19) active, on Cardinals' mound Tuesday
The St. Louis Cardinals activated right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez from the COVID-19 injured list.
Martinez hasn't pitched since July 28 due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. He will return to start the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. The 28-year-old right-hander was smacked for 6 runs, including 2 homers, on 7 hits in his only appearance this season. The Cardinals designated right-hander Ryan Meisinger for assignment in a corresponding roster move.
numberFire's models expect Martinez to record a 2.78 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with a 26.8 strikeout percentage over the rest of the season.
