Alex Gordon leading off for Royals Sunday in final MLB game
Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon is starting Sunday in the team's game against the Detroit Tigers.
It's the final game of Gordon's MLB career, as he announced a few days ago that he'll be retiring at season's end. The 36-year-old is most known for being a leader of the 2014 and 2015 Kansas City Royals teams that made back-to-back World Series appearances, winning the latter against the New York Mets in five games. On Sunday, he'll be starting in left field while batting leadoff against Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann.
In 183 plate appearances this season, Gordon has a .210 batting average and a .609 OPS.
