Yan Gomes catching for Washington against Cardinals
Washington Nationals catcher Yan Gomes will start in Monday's series opener against right-hander John Gant and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Gomes will replace Jonathan Lucroy at catcher and hit eighth. The Nationals designated Lucroy for assignment, leaving Gomes and Alex Avila as the available pitchers on the active roster.
Gomes has a FanDuel salary of $2,400 on Monday's slate. The Nationals-Cardinals game will be played at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, which is the fourth-least favorable stadium for hitters on Monday, per numberFire's MLB Heat Map.
