Jarrod Dyson has Grade 2 oblique strain, out six weeks for Royals

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain and will miss the next six weeks.

What It Means:

So a season-opening stint on the 15-day disabled list is coming. Dyson suffered the oblique strain in his very first Cactus League at-bat Wednesday and underwent an MRI on Thursday morning to gauge the severity. Paulo Orlando will likely open the 2016 campaign as the Royals' starting right fielder. This also probably clears a path for Travis Snider to crack the Opening Day roster. Dyson should be ready around mid-to-late April.

Dyson rates extremely well defensively, but he can't hit. He hasn't had more than 290 plate appearances in any of the past three seasons, and he's never posted a wOBA over .307 in his four seasons in the bigs. We project Dyson to have a .295 wOBA with three home runs and 31 steals in 2016.
