Aaron Loup (elbow) dealing with flexor strain for Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays' relief pitcher Aaron Loup's is dealing with a flexor strain in his left elbow, an MRI revealed.

What It Means:

He'll be shut down for two weeks before being re-evaluated. Loup is still holding out hope of being ready for Opening Day, but Blue Jays' manager John Gibbons admitted it would be "real tough." The southpaw will be missed.

Loup boasts a career 3.11 ERA and has held left-handed hitters to a .206/.272/.283 batting line. In 2015, he tossed 42 1/3 innings with a 24.7 percent strikeout rate, 3.8 percent walk rate and 2.89 xFIP.
