Erik Gonzalez grabbing seat Monday for Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Erik Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against right-hander Tyler Mahle and the Cincinnati Reds.
Wilmer Difo will cover third base while Gonzalez grabs a seat. Bryan Reynolds will return to center field after missing a couple games with a lower-body injury. Difo went 3-for-5 with a triple, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, Mahle owns the highest strikeout percentage (32.8) out of Monday's 10 listed starters and the Pirates are one of only two teams with an implied total below 3.5 runs.
